My favourite thing to hear from my clients: Caro, we want something different and fun for our family session. Say no more, lets plan something cool!

Some sessions just need to wait for the right time and right moment to happen, kids fall ill, husband’s out of the country, busy work period – you know, all the extra stuff. With this session it was the same case, we had plans to execute it earlier in February, then May and finally got this session done in July with the theme of Alice In Wonderland (we also had so many different concepts). With kids, it’s always a challenge to shoot and to keep their attention, but i feel like with this session the kids and the adults both got to have fun and really go into full character.

We decided on the quieter, cute spot in Kloogaranna that I love using for all my shoots, it has the most perfect spot for shooting in the forest and well, a benefit is that it’s not a heavily visited spot, so there were a lot of blueberries as well! The only negative was that we had quite a lot of mosquitos, but I had my thermacell device to help repel them with the additional mosquito spray. Sadly we still got some bites but nothing too bad.

Honestly my initial idea was to do a lot of posing and placing and making sure everything is perfect, but I did not vibe with it as much, so I just let go of the ideas and let them just have fun! Let the girls just do what they would usually do at a tea party and let the adults play their characters. I think this was such a good decision as the kids really seemed to be having fun screaming “off with their heads” in Portuguese and just eating all the delicious snacks we had on the table.
